The developers of the new Lorelei project on Laurel Island (near Romney St & Morrison Dr) are studying the needs of the city before they determine what to build on the former 160 acre landfill. It will most likely be a combination of retail, office, restaurants, hotel, meeting space, entertainment venue, parking facilities, boat access, and residential units. They are looking to fill the void of anything missing from downtown Charleston today, in addition to planning for the next generation of Charlestonians. Read more about the project here.
